A-Train for Youth: A-Train Deaf Camp
SaharaCares’ third annual A-Train for Youth Deaf Basketball Camp was held in 2009. This is an annual event that the deaf and hard of hearing children in the Salt Lake Valley have come to plan for and look forward to. The event is so successful, because these children are treated the same as other kids participating in similar camps. Language is not a barrier with this type of activity. We provide interpreters to help the children understand. This year SaharaCares was able to arrange for Lance Allred to come speak to the camp participants. Lance is the only deaf athlete to have played in the NBA.
